 Description :

Before starting, take the road going towards Saint Sauveur. Walk approximately 200 meters, you’ll find the " menhir christianisé", a megalith with a cross engraved (in 1937) in the granite. Turn back to your starting point, follow the path. At the intersection, turn right to get to the village Ker Pissot. Cross through the village and turn left towards la Bergerie. Breeding, during the 19 th century, used to be the most important activity in the agricultural sector. Opposite the existing farm, ruins of the former sheep fold. Follow on your right, the trail skirting through farm land and drystone walls. Continue up to the junction with the paved road Route des Sabias. Take the path opposite and turn right at the 1 st intersection. 500 meters away, turn left towards the lighthouse Grand Phare. This lighthouse measures 41 meters high. It was built in 1950 over a former lighthouse which got blasted in 1944 after many modernisation attempts . This former lighthouse was itself built over a group of megaliths.

Take the path on your right. It leads to the Vieux Château “ the Old Castle”. It is dated 14th century and was built by Olivier IV de Clisson, Jeanne de Belleville’s husband. Its main purpose was to protect the islanders from foreign invasion . It was classified in 1890 as a Historical Monument.

Turn back and walk inland. 500 meters away, you’ll get to a crossroad that leads to the little harbour La meule. Go straight ahead and a few meters after, you will discover les pierres à cupules du chien-à-l'affût, a megalith with 37 cupulae. The path leads to a clearing. Take the path on your left. The windmill called moulin du " Grand Chemin " will appear. It proves the importance that milling used to have. This windmill was already drawn on maps in 1695. Continue straight ahead to the end of your trail.

At the lighthouse, take the road towards the sea. Then turn left and follow the path that skirts round the beach “Belle Maison”. The path will then continue next to the beach Les Sables Rouis and lead to the headland Pointe du Châtelet and its calvaire des Marins, a cross set up in 1934 and dedicated to the men lost at sea. There used to be there, every two years, a religious ceremony (Pardon). The islanders would all come and pray. Leaving the peninsula, walk along the beach Les sabias. Islanders have a soft spot for this beach and its fishermen huts.
